| Description | We are a group of 4 student midwives from The Florida School of Traditional Midwifery. We will be traveling to the Dominican Republic in March of 2012 to serve women in a large urban hospital. We will be taking them a large amount of supplies and offering our help and assistance in prenatal care and deliveries in exchange for the cultural experience and learning opportunity of a lifetime. |

Donations we are seeking: -Any monetary support is graciously accepted and appreciated! Medical Supplies: -Green scrubs / blue scrubs -Fetoscopes -Dopplers -BP cuffs -Stethoscopes -White long-sleeved lab coats -Gloves (sterile and non sterile) -Surgical Instruments (check you local hospital for donations of used ones) -Chucks pads (disposable and/or washable) -Bulb syringes -Delee suction traps -OB meds (Miso(Cytotec), Pit, Ampicillin, IV fluids, Lidocaine, Antibiotic eye ointment, Vitamin K, etc...) -Surgical cloths -Thermometers -O2 equipment (tubing, masks, cannulas) -Ambu bags (hospitals generally dispose of these after use and you may be able to collect them from your local L&D unit to be disinfected for donation) Non-medical Supplies: -Twin bed sheets top and bottom -Baby clothes (premie-12 months) -Baby blankets -Photo paper / 4×6 for moms to get picture of baby -Soaps, shampoos and towels for moms and babies -Spanish books or info on pregnancy, birth, PP, breastfeeding -Breast pumps -Disposable baby wipes Donations may be mailed or can be arranged to be picked up in and around Flager, St Johns, Duval, Clay, Pinellas, Polk, and Hillsborough counties (Florida.) |
